Pink Jellies
The preferred casual footwear for men in Mexico is Pink Jellies. You can see men relaxing in their gardens and patios in these clear plastic sandals all a bright shade of pink. The sandals are cheap, comfortable and pink. It always makes me smile to see adult males in their Pink Jellies.

Cinnamon People
The people I live and work with are considered "Brown Skinned" by most of the world. To me they are a glorious color of "Cinnamon." Their skin ripples and shines in the sun with hues of bronze, red and copper. I noticed this the first time whilst buying cinnamon bark in the market. When the vendor handed me the cinnamon, her skin was the exact same color. I looked around and everyone was cinnamon. It was a delicious feeling to be surrounded by cinnamon. I feel so lucky to be living and working with the Cinnamon People.

Tapestries
With every breath you take you are weaving your life tapestry. The weaving starts at birth and continues until death. The tapestry includes everything you experience. It's ugly, beautiful, boring, incredible and it's yours. When I have the heebie jeebies I roll out my tapestry. I look at the good, the bad and take comfort that it is all mine. When I have the blues, I look at the fun times and I take comfort. When I'm lonely I look at all my friends and family and I take comfort. By realizing I have a tapestry, I see everything in perspective. Scary things become part of a pattern. They lose their power. I wrap myself in my tapestry. It gives me comfort. It's my life.

Smile Therapy
The most powerful medicine on the planet is happiness. According to the Dalai Lama, the reason we exist is to be happy. Happiness and health are the subject of dozens of scientific studies. All agree that you can greatly improve your life by being happy. This is all fine and good if you are happy. But what about those of us who are naturally pessimistic? Well there is a way to trick your body into feeling happy without actually being happy. The act of smiling automatically releases endorphins throughout your body boosting your immune system. Try this trick whenever you are down and out or at anytime at all. I guarantee it will change your life for the better. All you have to do is smile, smile, smile.

Spiritual Journeys
The word for gentleman in all romance languages is horseman. The reason is horses are noble. When you ride a horse, he shares his nobility with you. You become greater than the sum of your parts. Not only do you become noble you enter a spiritual realm unknown to non-riders. The physical act of horseback riding releases endorphins which steer you into bliss. Suddenly everything is more beautiful, more colorful. Birdsongs are more vibrantly musical. People you meet on the trail smile brilliantly and greet you with a blessing. Trees and flowers shimmer with beauty. You feel at one with the universe. You relax and melt into your horse. You become a centaur. With 1600 pounds of muscle between your legs, the world is yours. There is nothing you cannot overcome. Problems disappear. The sense of the horses erases all the complications of every day life. You can think clearly and make good decisions. When you finally dismount, you are relaxed. You know what to do. Your spiritual journey stays with you.
You are welcome to join us on our daily spiritual horseback journeys at Posada Escondida. You will be greeted with love, safety and comfort. Your spiritual guide, your horse, patiently awaits you.

Mayan Highways
For the last 13,000 years, Mayans have occupied the highlands of Central America including Chiapas, Guatemala, Honduras, Belize and the Yucatan. They created a system of "Mayan Highways" to traverse this ecologically diverse region. These highways are rocky pathways that still exist and are frequently used by the more than 12 million Mayans currently living the region. Posada Escondida sits on an important mountain pass connecting the highlands to the jungle. We are blessed to be the intersection of several Mayan Highways. From the Posada you can head out in any direction and hike or horseback ride for hours without interruption. These journeys are a spiritual trip through time and space. If you yearn to experience a timeless natural world before globalization, we are at your service. We offer comfortable hiking and horse trekking adventures that you will never forget.
