Mayan Highways
For the last 13,000 years, Mayans have occupied the highlands of Central America including Chiapas, Guatemala, Honduras, Belize and the Yucatan. They created a system of "Mayan Highways" to traverse this ecologically diverse region. These highways are rocky pathways that still exist and are frequently used by the more than 12 million Mayans currently living the region. Posada Escondida sits on an important mountain pass connecting the highlands to the jungle. We are blessed to be the intersection of several Mayan Highways. From the Posada you can head out in any direction and hike or horseback ride for hours without interruption. These journeys are a spiritual trip through time and space. If you yearn to experience a timeless natural world before globalization, we are at your service. We offer comfortable hiking and horse trekking adventures that you will never forget.
